Okay my aunts hubbys brother sold a dog to some people. After a month they didnt want it anymore. We couldnt get ahold of his brother. So i liked the dog agree'd to take the dog and keep her as my own. Well anyways i ended up having to pay them for the dog. They wanted it gone that day otherwise they were going to put her down. So i gave them $40 out of $100 owed. They said they didnt want any papers signed what so ever. So met them to get the dog and she was skinny full of worms to the point her gums were white. She had scabs and hair missing. She also had a piece of wood in her eye. His brother had the dog VET checked twice and turned up to be healthy! So i had to take her to the vet and remove the splinter from her eye worm her and treat her for sarcoptic mange. They call tonite wondering when they are getting the other part of the money. I told them i had to vet and and still paying off the vet bills. So they say they want me to sign saying i would pay. What should i do?
What should i do.?
When you agreed to buy the dog, did they verbally state that she received a clean bill of health from the vet? If so, you can (if it comes down to it) counter that the oral contract was breeched because they lied about the dog's condition.
If they didn't say the dog was healthy (saying they took it to the vet and saying it's healthy are two different things), then it's just a matter of what you want to do and how much of a hassle you want from this. Technically speaking, they *could* take you to small claims because you had an oral contract. If you don't mind risking that, then don't pay them. Otherwise, I'd just pay the rest and be done with them.
What should i do.?
It's basically up to you. Are you responsible enough to pay for everything when needed? But, you should always consider what would happen before signing anything.
What should i do.?
Well i would tell them about the condition she was in and i would report them for animal cruelty.
They should be happy the dog they wanted to kill is gone and cut there losses, since they would have had to pay to put the dog down.
Tell them you will pay them the rest of the money if they are willing to pay for the rest of what you owe in vet bills, for their cruelty and ignorance.
If they didn't want any papers signed then take the risk of them taking you to court and counter sue them, and have them charged for what they did they are obviously not nice people.
I'm sure once a judge hears what they did and you have proof for sure you will win.
Dont sign anything they didn't want to in the first place so why should you now.
What should i do.?
I agree with Puppyluv...........
Tell them you'd be happy to pay them the other $60 if they take responsibility of the vet bills you have incurred due to their negligence. SAVE ALL YOUR RECEIPTS !!!
