What kind of spider is this?

i am from connecticut and we have spiders that are probably about 2-3 inches in diameter which includes the legs. the body is usually a brown to rust color and is not segmented, it is just one oval/round shape. they have eight legs, very very thin, no hair or anything on them, the almost look like thin pieces of black string. i always thought they were daddy long legs but when i looked up daddy long legs it looked nothing like this type of spider. any ideas what this spider may be?

Based on your description, (Thin Black Legs) there are very very few insects with this trait, the Daddy long leg is not actually a spider. But is the only insect you would have in your home with thin black legs.you can always catch one in a cup with a piece of paper and take it to your local exterminator, he/she will be bale to tell you exactly what you have.

If they live in your house like on the ceilings or in corners or crown mouldings, I would say they are Daddy Long Legs.

If it's another kind and you are concerned consult:

God under yahoo, and type in brown spider, and then go under images. Or stop at librbary and see the spider book.

I think I know what you mean, it could be another kind of spider with shorter legs, but not certain of the name..

I need more information on the description of the spider to even begin guessing. If there's some kind of marking on it's belly and has a shape of a violin, it could be possible that it's a Brown Recluse. If it is, then they're dangerous and you should kill them and get a pest control or someone to get rid of them.

If it looks like it has really long/ strong hind legs, it could be any variety of the local jumping spiders.

However, from your oval body and 2-3 inches description, Brown Recluse is the first one that comes to mind. Look up all the information you can on spiders in connecticut on you state database.

I have to agree, your description lamost seems like a brown recluse. But the thin black strings not so much.

That is a brown recluse but they dont have the thin black legs (if you were talkin about the legs)

And they are dangerous. This is what they do to you.
