If the plates on a flat iron don't meet evenly..?

and pulls your hair is it a good one? i got a conair 100% ceramic at wal mart, its my 2nd 'cheap' one and i have previously damaged hair, kind of.

i was going to order a solia or sedu from folica but my dad got really angry and said, "all flat irons are the same, pieces of metal heated. it doesn't matter. and if you get a professional one you won't like it either and you'll return it. they're all the same.:"

the iron is OK but the plates don't meet very well.

what would you do?

If the plates on a flat iron don't meet evenly..?

As a stylist, I have used a lot of flat irons, including Sedu, HAI, Infrashine, Chi, Paul Mitchell, Solia, Big Sexy, Andis, Babyliss GHD, T3, Kenta etc.

In terms of performance:

The best ones are: Sedu, Kenta, Solia, Infrashine, GHD. These are top of the line professional brands

Above average: CHI, HAI, Paul Mitchell,

Average: T3, Big Sexy, Andis, Babyliss

Worst: Conair, Vidal Sassoon, Revlon, Bed Head etc. These are cheap consumer brands that you will find in drugstore. If you care about your hair, do NOT buy them.

I would return it and save up my money for a good one! because its really worth it! and doesn't damage your hair as much!

If the plates on a flat iron don't meet evenly..?

if it straightens your hair well i think it fine.

i use to buy ones like that but since my hair is very thick and curly, it wasn't hot enough to really straighten it.

i have a professional one and it works really well.

i advise getting one.

I would suggest investing in a professional iron. Pro irons will distribute the heat more evenly, heat up faster and leave you wil smoother results. as far as the cheap end of Professional tools you could get a Hot Tools iron for about $50 or an FHI or Chi for $60-100. They even sell CHI irons at Target. Hope that helps!
